Martha Nell Guisinger, 98, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed peacefully at her home with family by her side on June 6, 2021, and is now in the glorious presence of Jesus. She was born Martha Nell Williamson on March 1, 1923, in Neshoba County, Mississippi. At the age of 19, while working in a camera shop in Meridian, MS, she met her future husband, Joseph Guisinger, who was in the Air Force at that time during WWII. They married and eventually moved to Prairie Village, KS where they raised their family, and afterwards settled in Overland Park, KS for the remainder of their lives. Martha was a member of Ward Parkway Presbyterian Church and was a beloved preschool teacher there for 20 years. She was the treasured heart of our family and the best “Mammaw” ever to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She made lifelong friends wherever she went and was loved by so many. Her passing is Heaven’s gain, but our tremendous loss. She will remain in our hearts forever with much gratitude to God for the blessing and joy that she was and the many years we had with her.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, and daughter, Carole Sandels. She is survived by daughter, Sue Williams, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Donations may be made in Martha’s memory to Ward Parkway Presbyterian Church.
Visitation will be at Overland Park Funeral Chapel, 8201 Metcalf Ave. on June 11th from 6 to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be on June 12, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Antioch Pioneer Cemetery, 75th Street and Antioch Road, Merriam, KS.
