Dorothy Ann (Goins) Cooper

August 22, 1932 ~ November 3, 2021 (age 89)

Obituary

Dorothy A Cooper, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 3rd and joined her Lovey, Errol.  Born in Skiatook, Oklahoma on August 22nd, 1932. Parents were Clinton and Clydia Goins. She had 8 brothers and sisters. Her dear sister, Wanetta, survives her. Grew up on the farm for most of her life, until our Grandfather decided to move most everyone to the Mount Shasta area of Northern California.  Mom finished High School there and made some good lifelong friends. Most moved back to Oklahoma, but Mom stayed.

She was working at McClellan Air Force Base, in the Sacramento area, when Dad saw her and asked her out. She wanted nothing to do with him. One of her co-workers said to give him a chance. She had thought he was married!!  Well, she did give him that second chance and the rest is history. A 66-year marriage that one could only hope to have.

After they married and moved to Kansas City, they raised us four kids in Shawnee, KS. She was the classic Mom. Sewed all our clothes. Cooked the best meals. Went to our games. She and Dad had a close circle of friends that we all saw often when it was The Cooper's turn for Bridge. She was the Hostess with the Mostest!!

She was a lifelong member of Hope Lutheran Church. Devoted to her Circle Groups for many years. Supporter of the Hope Lutheran School, as well.

Dad retired and talked Mom into learning how to play Golf. He really unleashed a competitive beast. She was GOOD!! They played in their own groups but did play together. I believe she beat him, most of the time. Mom also played a lot of cards with her beautiful group of women that she had known forever. What good times they had.

She was the best Grandma to all her grand kids. Lots of Lake Quivira time. Baking Cookies at Christmas. Always making each one of us feel special at the Holidays. Trips to the Deanna Rose Farm. Even though, they did lose Lance once!!

Mom leaves behind children Melanie, husband Joe. David, wife Cinda. Marla. Paula, husband Tom. Grandchildren Matthew, Kristin, Randy, Kimberly, Jodie(deceased), Britton, and Lance. Great Grandchildren Emmett, Owen, Jaisyn, Christopher, Jamison, Levi, and Willow.  Her sister Wanetta and her nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Donations to Hope Lutheran Church and School in Dorothy’s memory, would be appreciated.
