Dana Brack

August 12, 1953 — May 24, 2019

Dana Alan Brack

(August 12, 1953 – May 24, 2019)

Dana, 65 years young, was a beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019. He was born in Topeka, KS as the 1st of 4 children to Marilyn and Robert. He grew up in Topeka and then Kansas City where he graduated high school from Shawnee Mission East High School. He got his degree from the University of Kansas in accounting. He most recently spent 20+ years at Rockhurst High School as their Chief Financial Officer.

Dana was the type of man who would do anything for anybody. He loved his family more than anything and you could see that love manifested in every way from when you walked into his living room and saw the walls full of family pictures to the countless examples of sacrifice that he gave for anybody who ever needed his help. He was an avid cyclist who rode in the MS 150 for 25+ years while serving on the board to help fight MS with that event. He loved sports of almost any kind. He played football and softball in his younger days and was a bowler and golfer later on in life. He loved watching sports as well and was a diehard KU fan and racing fan. He also loved to travel. Griswold style road trips for summer family vacations, impromptu trips to see a race or basketball game, and anything else you could think of. He was the rock in our family who we could all count on. He was the glue that kept everybody together when times were tough. He is completely irreplaceable and his memory and example will help keep us together as we move forward without him. We will miss his warm smile, helping hands, encouragement, and unconditional love and will rely on the strength he helped instill in us to move forward and live the way that he did and would want us all to live.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Brack, his brother, Steve Brack, and his first wife, Susan Brack. He is survived by his mother, Marilyn Brack; two sisters: Amy Brack Baker and Karen Wagner; children Jeff Brack (Sarah), Laura Carrison (Todd), Wes Lowe (Diana), and Devan Lowe; five grandchildren: Elijah, Titus, Quincy, Penelope, and Emma, and the the rest of his family and friends that will miss him dearly. All of us treasure the time that we had and grieve the times we will miss out on in the future with him not here.

The family invites anybody and everybody who would like to remember Dana and celebrate his life to a visitation on Wednesday, May 29th from 6 to 8 pm at Overland Park Funeral Chapel at 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66204. The Celebration of his Life will be on Thursday, May 30 at 10 am at St Luke’s Lutheran Church at 722 Reynolds, Kansas City, KS, 66101.  In lieu of flowers, we ask for you to consider donating to the MS Society( https://www.nationalmssociety.org/Chapters/KSG/Donate ) or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society( https://donate.lls.org/lls/donate ) in his name.
