Wilson E. Smith, Jr., 65, Prairie Village, Kansas, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2015. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 19 at Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, KS. Burial will be in Corinth Cemetery, Prairie Village, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ASPCA, 5428 Antioch Drive, Merriam, KS 66202.
Wilson was born January 3, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri, to parents Wilson E., Sr., and Willetta (Willard) Smith. He was one of five children. Wilson graduated from Shawnee Mission East, Class of 1967. He loved his family, and his dog, Casey, a Cairn terrier. He was an avid reader and especially enjoyed playing cards and the interaction at work with co-workers. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilson E. Smith, Sr., in 1998. Wilson is survived by: his mother, Willetta M. Smith; sister, Willetta (Charles) Lawhead of DeSoto, KS; brother, Wayne (Kim) Smith of Ponca City, OK; brother, Warren (Stacey) Smith of Prairie Village, KS; sister, Wyndee (Thomas) Clark of Olathe, KS; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and many friends.
