William Root

Bill was born December 5, 1940 in Kansas City, Kansas. He was the youngest of four children ad grew up in Roeland Park, KS.  Bill graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School and later served with the army during the Viet Nam War.  He married Linda Simpson on June 6, 1981 in Roeland Park, KS.  Bill was employed as a security officer and was awarded the Borg-Warner Protective Services 1996 Security Officer of the Year.  Preceding his security work, he was employed by Dal Tile for a number of years.  Bill was a lifelong Catholic and was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and also served as an usher for many years at Holy Cross Parish.  He enjoyed drawing and loved to sketch outdoor scenes. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Marie (Clement) and Howard Root; and his sisters, Patricia Rupe Halbeifen and Roberta Root. Bill is survived by his wife, Linda, his sister, Doris Larson (Jerry), and numerous nieces and nephews. Family suggested memorial contributions to the Church of the Holy Cross, 8311 West 93rd Street Overland Park, KS 66212.
