Thomas Robert Hess, 56, passed away Friday, Feb. 10, 2012. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012 at the D.W. Newcomer's Sons Overland Park Chapel; graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. The family suggests contributions to PETA.
Tom was born Oct. 3, 1955 in Des Moines, IA to Jerry and Marilyn Hess. He graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School in 1974. Tom married Joan Gibbs in 1983, she preceded in him in death. He owned and operated TR Cartographics. Tom volunteered with Parents Without Partners, and other organizations. He was preceded in death by his father, and his brother, John Hess. Survivors include his children: Desiree Horton, Joel Hess; a step-daughter, Janine Bivins; his mother, Marilyn Hess; grandchildren: Alexandria Nicole, Christopher Horton, Ally Horton, Ariana Hess, Brandon "Pee Wee" Bullock, Jessica Bivins; his companion, Barbara Cloughley; and his many friends.
