Mrs. Thelma Wards

Thelma Louise Wards, 86, of Overland Park, KS passed way on June 17, 2013. Thelma was born on May 4, 1927 to Robert H. Jones and Ida May (West) Jones. Her family was very important to her and she was a loving mother, grandmother and a great-grandmother. To many she was the most perfect woman that ever lived and she will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she has touched.
Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Aaron Wards; three brothers, Marvin, Berl, Roy Jones; sister, Juanita Jones; nephew, Robert Henry Jones; two nieces, Edith and Donna Jones; two grandsons, Ray Alan Wards and Mario Venezia and one granddaughter; Nancy Elizabeth Wards.
She is survived by three children, Ray A. (Janice) Wards, Donald E. (Leah) Wards and Doris M. Wards; Life time Friend, Cindy McGill. Among her survivors are ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by, two nieces, Joseph (June) McCoy and Frank (Vista) Hanson both of Ottawa and several great and great-great nieces and nephews, as well as many cousins.
In honor of Thelma the family will be holding a visitation at the D.W. Newcomer's Sons Overland Park Chapel 8201 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS 66204 from 6-8PM on Thursday June 20, 2013, with a funeral service the following day at 10AM at the same location.
The family request memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, be sent to Kansas City Hospice House at 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, Mo., 64145.
