Stephen Matthys, 51, of Kansas City, KS passed away on December 6, 2013, at KU Medical Center, after a short battle with brain stem cancer.
Stephen was born on November 5, 1962 in Kansas City, MO to Carol Creamer and Harry Matthys. Stephen was a graduate of Oak Park High School. He worked in the printing industry for 35 years, having worked for ITW Labels for the past several years. He enjoyed nature, the outdoors, kayaking, fishing, and shooting.
Survivors include his parents, his brother, Robert Matthys of Warsaw, MO, step-father, Duke Creamer of St. Petersburg, FL, nephews, James and Jacob Matthys, a niece, Cassidy Matthys, and his honorary daughter, Nicole Jeffcoat.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December, 12th, 9 AM-11 AM, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Overland Park Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made in Stephen's honor to Be Head Strong, http://www.beheadstrong.org/.
