Shirlie J. Weagley, 95, of Overland Park passed away August 30, 2020, from complications of a stroke.
Shirlie was born in Brainerd, Minnesota, and graduated from Brainerd High School. She completed her education at Carleton, College, and Minnesota School of Business. She lived in Overland Park for over 40 years.
Shirlie was a lifelong Episcopalian and was a member of Saint Michael and All Angels Church, Mission, KS, where she was a past president of Daughters of the King. She was an active volunteer for many years at Adventist Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
She and her first husband, Francis Sly, to whom she was married for over 45 years, raised and showed Yorkshire Terriers, and are credited with 14 champions. She was a member of the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America and the Heart of America Kennel Club. Francis passed away in 1990. She married Glenn Weagley in 1993 and they enjoyed 16 years together and enjoyed traveling in the US and abroad.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Carnes of Overland Park; grandson, Matthew Carnes of Aspen, Colorado; great granddaughter, Chloe Carnes and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 10:00 am, Friday, September 4, 2020, at Saint Michael and All Angels Church, 6630 Nall Ave, Mission, KS 66202. Inurnment will follow at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens, 23215 W. 75th St., Shawnee, KS.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorials in memory of Shirlie to Saint Michael and All Angels Church.
