Sharon Lee Brim

Sharon Lee Murphy Brim passed away on May 9, 2024, in Overland Park, KS, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. Funeral services will be held on May 14^th at 11:00 AM at the Overland Park Chapel (formerly  DW Newcomer’s Funeral Home) in Overland Park.

Sharon was born in Garnett, KS to Dorothy (Brown) and Francis “Leo” Murphy on August 16, 1942. She has an older brother, Patrick Murphy (of Kansas City, MO), and a younger sister, Peggy Murphy (of Long Beach, CA). Sharon graduated from nursing school in 1963. “Nurse Brim” was her title and her passion for the next 50 years.

She married Harold Brim on June 27, 1964. Together, this dynamic couple had 4 children; Megan (Thomas) Foote, Brian (Sherrill Morris), Kevin (Tiffany Yowell), and Kathleen “Katie” (Steve) Winfrey. Taking trips as a family, and then when the kids left the house, just with Harold was source of enjoyment for all of their life together. Sharon and Harold started a nursing consulting company. Which Harold ran until his death in 1993. Sharon was dedicated to her children and grandchildren throughout her life. Joshua, Crispin, Erin, Nicholas, Mandy, Leo, Corin, Anika, and Peyton will all miss their grandmother very much.

Sharon married Albert Hill in 1997, and he became her driver and cook until his death in 2014. Together, they shared Sharon’s love of travel including a trip to Ireland with Sharon’s brother and sister.

Sharon’s smile would light up her entire face and that would light up the entire room. She will be missed by all of us.
