Roberta Storey

Our loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Roberta J. "Monga" Storey, passed away peacefully Monday, November 14, 2011. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, November 18, 2011 with a visitation prior from 12:30 – 1:00 p.m. at the D.W. Newcomer's Sons Overland Park, Chapel; burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. The family suggests contributions to Heartland Hospice, 1001E. 101st Terr Ste 180, KCMO 64131.
Roberta was born Sept. 21, 1925 in Glen Elder, KS to Eugene and Lulu Vallette. She attended elementary school in Glen Elder, KS and the family moved to Kansas City in 1937. Roberta graduated from Shawnee Mission Rural High School now known as Shawnee Mission North High School. Roberta married the love of her life, Edward M. Storey, Jr. on June 21, 1945. She worked at Wolferman's and Halls on the Plaza, and later retired from Sears & Roebuck in 1990. Roberta was an amazing cook as well as a lover of the outdoors enjoying swimming, water skiing, fishing, and mountain climbing. Roberta and Ed loved to travel during their retirement years. She was preceded in death by her sister, Emily Barnett. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Edward M. Storey, Jr.; two children: Deborah Neet and her husband Joe, and Edward M. Storey III and his wife, April; grandchildren: Shelly and her husband Daniel, Katie and her husband George III, Holly, Shayne, Malia, Edward IV, and Skylar; great grandchildren: Hailey, Nicolas, George IV, and Thomas.
