Robert Grimes

Robert W. Grimes, 89, Prairie Village, KS passed away March 18, 2017 at his home.  Bob was born in Springfield, MO on September 29, 1927 to Charles L. and Mildred (Adkins) Grimes.  His two brothers, Lt. Charles Louis and Jimmie, as well as a grandson, Mark Lloyd Grimes, preceded him in death.

He grew up in Springfield, MO and graduated from Clinton High School in Clinton, MO.  He attended General Motors Institute in Flint, MI.  Bob was employed his entire life in automobile sales and management in both Clinton and Kansas City.  Bob also loved his 14 years driving for Enterprise Leasing before his final retirement in July 2016.

Bob is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart Liz (Helen Elizabeth Calvin).  They were happily married 68 years.  They have 3 children Mark (Barb), Lynne, and Robert (Amy) Grimes.  Grandchildren: Brian (Erin), Erika, Michaela, and Jacob Grimes and great-grandchildren Jaxson, Raylee, & Peighton.

Bob was very active member and supportive of his church, Asbury United Methodist.  He served as president and treasurer of Crusaders Sunday school class, as well as being a Sunday school teacher and usher for many years. He had been involved in Lions Club and had served as post president of the Blue Hills Lions Club in Kansas City, MO.  For many years, Bob and Liz had enjoyed being a part of the Arrowhead Square Dance Club.  Bob and Liz enjoyed playing cards with friends and loved a good game of scrabble.

A visitation is scheduled for March 22, 2017 from 10-11 am at Asbury United Methodist Church with services to follow.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to KidsTLC or Asbury United Methodist Church.
