Mr. Robert DeLand

Robert E. DeLand, 85, of Overland Park, KS, passed away on June 4, 2013 at Kansas City Hospice House. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Leawood United Methodist Church, 2915 W. 95th Street, Leawood, KS 66206.
"I was born on September 18, 1927 in Houston, Texas, the son of James Edward DeLand and Rose (Mays) DeLand. I attended public schools in Houston Texas. Upon completion of high school, I enlisted in the U.S. Army (A.S.T.R.P) and attended A&MA of NM and later served in the European Theater. I established residency in Houston, Texas, and attended The University of Houston. My working career consisted of 38 years in the trucking industry, the last twenty-two years with Yellow Freight Systems. I was The Director of Commerce and a Licensed ICC Practitioner. I retired in 1992 as Director of Government Sales. I am a life-long member of the United Methodist Church, having served in various capacities. I am presently a member of Leawood United Methodist Church. I am a lifetime member of Holland Masonic Lodge in Houston, TX. I am also a life member of the Easter Star, North Star Chapter, Wichita, KS.
I am preceded in death by my loving wife of 49 years, Billie B. DeLand. I am survived by my son, James B. DeLand, of Gravois Mills, MO, a grandson, Dustin M. DeLand, of Lawrence, KS."
