RICHARD F. PHIPPS, O.D.
Richard Flint Phipps, O.D., 74, of KCMO, passed away Monday, December 25, 2006 at St. Joseph's Health Center. Dr. Phipps was born August 14, 1932 in Humboldt, KS to Herbert Ray and Freda Viola (Flint) Phipps and had lived in this area most of his life. He practiced Optometry for 46 years in the Kansas City area. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics and then his Doctor of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry, University of Tennessee. He was a member of the Greater Kansas City Optometric Society as well as the American and Missouri Optometric Associations for 50 yaers. He was a participant of Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity since 1983. He was an Army Veteran and a member of the Blue Ridge Trinty Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Mary L. Phipps, his sons, Steven Richard Phipps, Jeffrey Scott Phipps and his wife Carolyn, grandchildren Megan, Mary Kathleen and Logan and a sister, Barbara Bartels.
