Patricia Ruth Pierce Whitlock, 86, passed away Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2011 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 75th and Nall Ave, Prairie Village, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Asbury United Methodist Church.
Patricia was born July 10, 1925 in Kansas City, MO to Charlie and Ruth Dobbe. She graduated from Westport High School. Patricia was married to Bluford (Duke) Pierce, Jr. on March 10, 1943 in Kansas City, MO, he preceded her in death. She was re-married to Hugh B. Whitlock on Nov. 12, 1982 in Brunswick, Georgia, he preceded her in death. Patricia retired from the I.R.S. after 20 plus years of service as a tax examiner. She and Duke Pierce were founding members of the Asbury United Methodist Church, and she was an active member of The Ruth Circle at the church. Survivors include her children: Cynthia (Frank) Emery, Bud H. (Cherryl) Pierce, Connie Jo Dark, and Randy (Sue) Whitlock; 2 brothers: Charles (Tae) Dobbe, and Robert (Betty) Dobbe; 2 sisters: Virginia (Leslie) Holdeman, and Phyllis (Arthur) Burnett; 7 grandchildren: Charles (Christy) Emery, Russell (Jennifer) Emery, Elizabeth (Max) Houk, Amber Pierce, Kristen Pierce, Christopher Dark, and Christopher Titus; 2 great grandchildren: John (Karen) Emery and Jillian Emery; and several nieces and nephews.
