Nellie Hooper Tulloch made her transition Friday morning, January 12, 2007, one week following her 99th birthday, at Delmar Gardens of Lenexa. She is survived by son, L.D. Tulloch and daughter-in-law, Dona Tulloch, Overland Park, KS, and daughter, Nancy Tulloch Hoch, Prairie Village, KS; three grandchildren, Jon Tulloch, Kimberly Tulloch, Christina Tulloch Dammerich and husband, Chris Dammerich of the area; one sister, Irene Kinney (and daughter, Barbara), Springfield, MO; nieces, Thelma Gorden, Blanche Webb, and Bonnie Rosswurm, Springfield, MO; nieces, Vivien Brown and Jesse Ross of California; and nephew, George Delbert Hooper, California; as well as many great and greatgreat nieces and nephews; friends and the caring staff at Delmar Gardens of Lenexa, as well as Kansas City Hospice. She was preceded in death by four brothers, husband, Maurice and son-inlaw Stewart Hoch. Nellie was born January 5, 1908 in Mentor, MO, the daughter of John Anderson and Amanda Hooper. She married Maurice Dale Tulloch in 1933 and they moved to Kansas City during World War II, where Maurice worked in a defense plant. Following the war, Nellie spent many years as a minister's wife, which she enjoyed very much. The church provided a natural outlet for her musical teaching and organizational talents. She spent 17 years working at Menorah Hospital's information desk when it was located in Kansas City, MO, and was a faithful and active member of First Calvary Baptist Church for many years. She was a loving homemaker, mother, and wonderful cook, and blessed with a feisty spirit, a delightful sense of humor and great inner strength. She will be missed and remembered always. A celebration of her life will be 5 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2007 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation 4-5 p.m. prior to the service.
