Nancy Ann McClelland

Nancy Davis McClelland passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023.

Nancy Ann was born on June 8, 1935, in Newark, Ohio to William and Helen (Beggs) Davis.  Nancy grew up in Newark, Ohio and graduated from Newark High School in 1953.

She attended Ohio State University and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.  While attending Ohio State, Nancy took great joy working as a disc jockey at Station WOSU.  She met her husband, Dale McClelland, while in school at Ohio State.

Nancy married Dale Eugene McClelland on September 17, 1955, in Newark, Ohio.  They were blessed with five wonderful children – Jeff, Greg, Julie, Jane, and Cathy.  Nancy has fifteen talented grandchildren and twelve precious great grandchildren.

Nancy had a variety of occupations during her life.  For many years, she stayed home and took on the tremendous task of raising five young children.  In 1963, Nancy and Dale made Kansas City their permanent home.  In 1973, Nancy was employed by the Shawnee Mission School District as an administrative assistant.  She served the school district for twenty-five years, retiring in 1998.

Nancy and Dale loved The Ohio State University, the Kansas City Royals, and the Kansas City Chiefs.  They had many great times together especially with their neighbors on Chadwick Street.  Sadly, Dale passed away on March 12, 2001.

Nancy’s profound faith carried her through this difficult time.  She was a member of Christ Anglican Church since 1966.  She served on the church’s Altar Guild for many years.  She was a member of the church’s Vestry for two terms.  Additionally, Nancy loved her Wednesday morning Bible study group.  Nancy met Ralph Mullin at the church, and they were married on February 18, 2007.

Nancy and Ralph traveled, played golf together, and enjoyed the company of good friends, especially Tuesday nights at O’Neill’s Restaurant.

Nancy was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution.  She was an avid bridge player.  She was known for her quick wit and endearing smile.  She made many friends and was always available to them in times of need.  Her faith guided her throughout life.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, William and Helen Davis; her brothers, Bill and Tom Davis; and her great granddaughter, Mia Grace Elkan.  She is survived by her husband Ralph Mullin, five children and their spouses, fifteen grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren: Jeff McClelland and wife Sharon, their children Katie Elkan, Emily (Jeff) Matlock, and Lauren (Seth) White; Greg McClelland and wife Cyndi, their children Mackenzie (Mark) Anderson, Cooper (Caitlin) McClelland, and Connor McClelland; Julie Chaffee and her husband Jay, their children Kevin (Sarah) Chaffee, Chris Chaffee, and Courtney (Matt) Chalfant; Jane Dolan and her husband Tim, their children, Danny Dolan, Brian Dolan, Michael Dolan, and Joey Dolan; Cathy (Jim) Handy and their children, Calvin Handy and Emma Handy.  The great grandchildren are Olivia, Jackson, Evelyn, Sloan, Violet, Mae, Chloe, Tenbrook, Cameran, Johnny, and Isla.
