Martha (Douglas) Bowen Waite

Martha (Douglas) Bowen Waite, born September 1, 1914, passed away January 9, 2007. Martha was preceded in death by her husband Harold Bowen and son Harold "Sonny" Bowen, brothers, Robert, Bill and Dick Douglas.

Martha was a member of the Independence Blvd. Christian Church. She grew up in Collinsville, IL., and lived in Kansas City most of her life. Martha worked for Defense Mapping Agency for 24 years as a Cartographer retiring in 1985. In retirement Martha enjoyed spending time with her family, vacations at the lake, being a Great Grandma, sitting on her front porch, visiting with her sister and writing. She was selected with 23 other Missouri women authors to submit an essay in "Exposures and Essays by Missouri Women" and was a frequent contributor to the Kansas City Star opinion pages. She was the center of our family and will be greatly missed.

Martha is survived by daughters; Mildred Bowen of Seattle, WA., Martha Dominick and husband Chuck of Kansas City, MO., seven grandchildren; Michelle Heller and husband Charles, Charlie Dominick and wife Dana, Brian Dominick and wife Kim, Rob Dominick, Mike Bowen, Dana Bond, Joseph Patrick Bowen, eleven great-grandchildren; Erin Murphy, Ryan Murphy, Charley Dominick, Christian Dominick, Brandon Dominick, Andrew Dominick, Courtney Dominick, Brittany Harris, Victoria Bowen, Sonny Bowen, Michael Bond, sister, Dorothy Anderson, brother, John Douglas, five nieces, Pam Clancy, Sandy Phillips, Karen Anderson, Carlene Lima, and Linda Douglas.
