Marilyn Biggs

January 12, 1925 — November 7, 2007

Marilyn Sweeney Biggs passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at her home at Brighton Gardens. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, November 12, at Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral, 13th and Broadway, Kansas City, MO.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, J.O. Biggs, and her son, John Kevin Biggs. She is survived by her son Brian Biggs of Estes Park, CO, daughter Melissa Biggs Folger, brother Miles Sweeney of Springfield, MO, step-mother, Florence Sweeney of Pittsburg, KS, grandchildren Andrew Folger, Lindsay Folger, John Biggs and Francie Biggs, and great-grandchild Conor Folger.

Marilyn was born in Pittsburg, KS in 1925. She received a Bachelor of Arts from Kansas University, where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. She enjoyed careers in art and interior design, and was an active volunteer for the Junior League in Des Moines, Kansas City, Philadelphia, and Tucson. But she was most artful and will be most remembered as a loving mother, devoted wife and loyal friend. Whether she was embellishing birthday cakes, decorating numerous homes, or entertaining friends and family, she always added her own style and grace. She was beautiful, strong minded, funny, kind, and eternally devoted to those around her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral, The Alzheimer's Foundation of American, or to a charity of your choice.
