Linda Syverson

October 20, 1914 — April 12, 2012

Linda Margaret Syverson was born October 20, 1914, the eighth child of Ever
and Bertha Ellingstad in rural Dunn County, Wisconsin. She passed into Heaven
on April 12, 2012 at The Atriums of Overland Park, Kansas. She is survived by
brother Gordon Ellingstad of Chippewa Valley, Wisconsin and son Duane with
wife Kathy and grandchildren Jay Syverson, Lynn Wallace and JoEllen Kanter. She
had 3 grandchildren, Connor, Matt and Joshua.
Linda was the first child to graduate from Hixton High School. Linda met her
future husband Carrol P. Syverson while working as a maid in a hotel in Winona,
Minnesota. They eloped and were married on December 26, 1936.
Carrol found work first as a math teacher and then as an employee of ADM
Corporation. The couple moved several times and had sons Dennis in 1937 and
Duane in 1940. They moved while employed by ADM to St. James, Frost and
Winona, Minnesota. Again they moved to Minneapolis then finally to Leawood,
Kansas in 1959. Carrol passed away on August 17, 1992. For those many years
Linda was always active in church work. She travelled extensively with Carrol
throughout Europe and the United States of America.
Linda's years of retirement were spent at the Atriums where she warmly greeted
others as they moved to the facility. Never a complainer Linda was always upbeat
and full of love for her distant family.
Memorial Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Overland Park Chapel. Memorials can be sent to Memorial Fund, Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 9100 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS 66206.
