Kenneth Fair, Sr.

March 20, 1929 — April 24, 2015

Kenneth M. Fair, Sr. left his earthly body on April 21, 2015.
He was born on March 20, 1929, in Braman, Oklahoma, to A. Earl Fair and Grace (Marshall) Fair.  He was the devoted husband of Ramona (Gwin) Fair for 51 years.  He was preceded to heaven by his parents, beloved wife, eldest son, Kenny, Jr., sister Fern and brother Bud.  He is survived by his brother Richard (Bonnie) Fair, his son George and wife Peggy, his daughter Susan and wife Christine Condon, his grandchildren Aaron (Shelley) Fair, Steve (Landra) Fair, Marc (Amy) Fair, Casey Fair, Matt (Amy) Fair, Becky (John) Bouchey, Alex Busche, Max Busche and 15 great-grandchildren; Benjamin, Peyton, Elsa, Andrew, Brooke, Jette, Leo, Dexter, Ava, Evan, Kyle, Layla, Lortetta, Bailey and Mason.
Ken earned his teaching certificate at Central State Teacher’s College in Edmond, Oklahoma, and began teaching in 1948 in a one-room rural school.  He finished his master’s degree in education from the same institution over the next thirteen summer.  He began teaching all eight grades in a one-room rural school then taught different elementary grades in the schools of Ulysses, Olathe and Shawnee Mission, Kansas, over his 46 year career.  When he retired from teaching, he volunteered his time at the Better Living Center in Kansas City, Missouri, the Shawnee Mission Medical Center food pantry, medical records, and gift shop and the food pantry at Lenexa Seventh-Day Adventist Church where he was a beloved member.
He loved to garden and was renowned for his roses and beautiful landscapes.  He loved music and singing in groups for special church occasions.  He played the accordion and piano, as well.  He was a patient man with a love for people and an encouraging word for everyone.  His family and friends will miss him deeply as we look forward to our guaranteed reunion.
The visitation will be Monday, April 27, from 5-7 pm at the Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, KS.  The funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 28 at 10 am at the Overland Park Chapel.  www.overlandparkchapel.com
