JOSEPH J. ELLAS
Joseph J. Ellas, 81, passed away August 27, 2011 at home in Shawnee, KS. Joseph was born in East Chicago, Indiana to his deceased parents, John and Ida (Fodor) Ellas.
Joseph was a graduate of Hammond Tech High School. He served as a U.S. Marine in the Korean War. He worked for Inland Steel Industries until he retired in 1993. Joseph was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., Club Calumet, Inc.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Lillian (Bander) Hehr, his brother, Al Medwetz and wife, Rose; his sister, Irene Matovina, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Sept. 1 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mission KS at 11:00 a.m. Friends may greet Lillian from 10:00 – 11:00 before the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Faith United Church (3030 175th Street, Hammond, IN 46323) or Trinity Lutheran Church, Mission, KS.
