Johnnye Gausnell

January 2, 1920 — January 2, 2007

Johnnye Louise Gausnell, 87, of Leawood, Kansas passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at Somerset Health Center, Prairie Village, Kansas. Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 6th at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 A.M., Saturday at the chapel prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Johnnye was born December 7, 1919 in Royce City, Texas. She and her husband, Jack, came to the Kansas City area at the beginning of the forties with their son Carl. During the subsequent ten years, they had another son and two daughters. Johnnye was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend. During her latter years, much of her extended family lived all over the world and she became ?home base? for them all. The family would call her to ask for guidance and ask how the others were doing. She was a special person of integrity, compassion, and humor. She lived a long rich rewarding life, and the family is celebrating her life rather than mourning her departure. Johnnye was preceded in death by her son Carl Seth Gausnell and her husband V. Jack Gausnell. Johnnye is survived by her son Jack Graham Gausnell of Carbondale, Colorado, daughters Cathy Lynn Graham of Fairway, Kansas, and Vicki Sue Boje of Glenwood Springs, Colorado.
