James Laughlin

James Vernon "Jim" Laughlin, 85, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014.

Jim was born February 4, 1929, in Fort Wayne, IN. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame and received a degree in history. Jim then graduated from Georgetown University with a Juris Doctorate. He also served as a SSG in the Army during the Korean War. Jim had a distinguished 20 year career with the FBI and continued in law enforcement until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Francis Laughlin and two brothers, John and Dennis Laughlin.

James is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joanne Laughlin; four children, Kathleen, Suzanne, James (Mary) and Don (Sue Ellen); five grandchildren, Jennifer (Meghan), Allison, Sean, Ryan and Ian; and one great-grandchild, Connor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to FBI Memorial Education Fund at www.fbiaa.org/donations/.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at St Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 14251 Nall Ave, Leawood, KS 66223. The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 p.m.
