Helen Jean Bruns, 84, of Overland Park, KS passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015. Visitation will be 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m., Thursday, May 7th, with a rosary at 6:30p.m. at Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66204.
Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00a.m., Friday, May 8th, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 12800 W 75th St, Shawnee, KS 66216.
Helen was born to Peter P. and Anna L. Spalitto September 18, 1930, in Kansas City, Mo. She married S. Frederick (Fred) Bruns on June 17, 1950. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and youngest son Robert (Rick). She is survived by her children, Paul (Linda), and Pete (Sandy); grandchildren, Adam (Brandi), Andrew (Melanie), and Rick (Michelle); great-grandchildren, Caleb, Seth, Bella, Ava, Brielle, Keaton, and Camden; and brother, Dr. Frank Spalitto (Sandy).
Helen attended St. Agnes Academy, Holy Cross Grade School, Glennon High School, Mount St. Scholastica Academy, and Kansas City University. Helen had a great love for music and was an accomplished musician and teacher, teaching piano in the Kansas City area for 35 years. She was a past member of the Kansas City Music Teachers Association, Moment Musical, and the Musical Arts Club.
