Harold E. Birnell, 87, died peacefully in his sleep at his home on Tuesday, March 13, 2012. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the Antioch Church of the Nazarene, 7600 Antioch Rd., Overland Park, KS; burial in Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens. A visitation will be in the Fellowship Hall on the lower level from 6-8 p.m. Friday. Friends are encouraged to park at the rear of the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donation to the Kidney Foundation or the dialysis center of personal choice.
Harold was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Birnell; a son, Richard Birnell; 7 brothers and one sister; his foster parents and one foster sister. Survivors include his wife, Erma Birnell; two children: Terry Birnell, and Melody Alspaugh; a sister, Vivian Reese; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and a large extended family and friends.
