Edgar Borcherding

Edgar G. “Ed” Borcherding was born December 18, 1921 in St. Louis County, MO to Charles and Louise Schinzing Borcherding.  He attended St. John’s Academy and College, Winfield, KS and Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MO, leaving in 1942 to join the Army Air Corp during WWII.  He attained the rank of Master Sergeant.  He was employed by the Chevrolet Division of General Motors where he worked for over 35 years.  Ed married Norma Oppliger on November 25, 1948 in St. Louis, MO.  They had five children Michael (and Susan), Rebecca, Mark (and Gwyn), Douglas (and Chris), and David (and Cheryl).  In January 1961, he became a charter member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Overland Park, KS.  Ed Borcherding, age 93, died June 2, 2015 at Delmar Gardens, Overland Park.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, one brother and his wife, Norma, in 2005.  He is survived by his children, ten grandchildren, and seven-great-grandchildren.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be directed to Edgar Borcherding Memorial Fund, Bethany Lutheran Church & School, 9101 Lamar Ave., Overland Park, KS 66207.  Please offer condolences at www.overlandparkchapel.com.
