Rev. Dr. Charles A. Jones, 94, of Overland Park, KS, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sunday July 8, 2012, at Kansas City Hospice House.
Dr. Jones was born on October 6, 1917 in Fort Scott, KS. Dr. Jones was a graduate of Westport High School, William Jewell College, and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He served for 55 years as pastor of various churches in Indiana, Michigan, and Kansas. Dr. Jones was a leader in the American Baptist Churches, U.S.A. and lived a life of servitude. He was a member of Prairie Village Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Deborah Jackson (Gladys Starkey), of New Smyrna Beach, FL, two grand-doggies--Jax and Brady, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dr. Jones was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Frances Lorraine Jones, son, Mark D. Jones, parents, Clarence C. and Anna Bernice Parnell, and a half-brother, Robert Jones.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 17th, 3:00 PM, at Prairie Village Baptist Church, 7416 Roe Avenue Prairie Village, KS. Refreshments and fellowship will follow the memorial service. A committal ceremony will be will be on Wednesday, July 18th, 10:00 AM, at Mount Moriah Cemetery South, 10507 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Prairie Baptist Church Communion Fund, Prairie Baptist Church ABW Women's Ministry, or KC Hospice.
