Doris Allen

Doris J. Allen, 88, of Mission, Kansas, formerly of Centralia, Missouri, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2016. Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 2016, at the Rothville Missouri Cemetery. Mrs. Allen was born February 4, 1928, in Rothville, Missouri and she graduated from Rothville High School in 1946. She married her high school sweetheart, Arthur H. Allen on August 21, 1949. Art and Doris both graduated from the University of Missouri in 1951. Upon graduation, they moved to Centralia, Missouri. Art and Doris were very loyal and active members of the Centralia and mid-Missouri communities. Doris was very active with the First Baptist Church in Centralia and served in a variety of roles including Sunday School teacher and serving bereavement dinners for the families that lost loved ones from the church and surrounding area. Doris was also a long-time volunteer at the Centralia Historical Society and a member of P.E.O. She loved having friends and family in her home to share a meal. She was a devoted wife and mother to Ken and Bruce and always supported them and their families.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Art, parents, Odis Roosevelt Ball and Iva Juanita (Shoop) Ball, sisters, Marie and Shirley and brother, Marvin.  She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Barb of Overland Park, Kansas, Bruce and Sandy of Fairway, Kansas, grandchildren Madison Allen, Cale Neddermeyer, Braden Neddermeyer, Lannea Allen, Daniel Allen, and Mariel Allen. Contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Centralia, Missouri.
