Derrick Phillip Morris, 26, Overland Park, KS passed away April 10, 2015 in Kansas City, MO. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, April 15 at Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park. Funeral service will be Thursday, April 16 at 11:30 a.m. at Overland Park Chapel. Burial will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS.
Derrick was born September 4, 1988 in Kansas City, MO. He was a remodeler, and a specialist in the Army National Guard. Derrick was a son, a brother, a grandson, an uncle and a nephew. He loved to ride and race dirt bikes, he loved BMXing, being on the water, and anything that would give him an adrenaline rush. He enjoyed being with his friends, relaxing at home, working on bikes and had a mad passionate love for the Army. He was the best son and brother we could ever ask for.
He was preceded in death by Aunt Dee and Uncle Steve. Derrick is survived by: his mom, Brenda Morris; father, Phillip Morris; brother, Donald Zahnd; sisters, Danielle Zahnd and Brandie Clark; grandparents Richard and Merle Whitebread and Barbara Fox; nephews, Tyler Zahnd and Zachary Clark; nieces, Alexis Clark, Ava, Ariah and Annistyn Zahnd; and Uncle Rick.
