Mrs. Clarine Jane Case

January 21, 1921 — June 22, 2013

Clarine Jane Case, 92, passed away Saturday morning, June 22, 2013 at her home in Roeland Park, KS. Clarine was born January 21, 1921 in Kansas City, MO and was the only child of Victor Shawgo and Dorothy Ott. She attended E.C. White Elementary School, Westport Jr. Middle School, and Westport High School, where she met her husband, Richard Louis Case. They graduated in May of 1937 and were married February 19, 1938. Clarine loved to garden (she could make anything grow) and read, and always enjoyed a good mystery. She was an avid nature watcher, especially birds, and could name any bird that would stop by her many bird feeders. Clarine was a long time member of the Southridge Presbyterian Church. She was an excellent cook, famous for her pot roast and potato salad and she loved to travel and take pictures; some of her favorite trips were to Spain and Italy. She was also known as the "prettiest mom" to many of her daughter's classmates. Clarine was a relentless supporter of her husband and her daughters and their families; always encouraging and helping them reach their dreams. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 74 years, Richard Louis Case. She is survived by her four daughters, Karen Askey, Tallahassee, FL; Vikki Mazza and husband Robert, Shawnee, KS; Sandra Tommer and husband William, Silver Lake, KS; and Cynthia Beeves and husband Ronald, Prairie Village, KS as well as 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two half-brothers, Victor and Richard Shawgo of Amarillo, TX. A memorial service for family will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. The family is grateful for the loving care Clarine received from St. Luke's Hospice and St. Luke's Hospital. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that contributions be made to the American Heart Association and St. Luke's Hospice.
