Boheng Zhu

Boheng Zhu of Overland Park, KS, passed away peacefully April 22, 2024 at the age of 94.  He was born October 29, 1929, the eldest of four children born to Quetang Zhu and Xiangzi Wu of Hangzhou, China.  Boheng was influenced by his father and majored in Chinese literature at Shangdong University in the early 1950s.  He worked at the Shanghai municipal government and taught Philosophy to peers till 1958.  After a three-year reeducation during the Mao era, he became a teacher in Chinese literature at the Eleventh High School from 1961 until his retirement in 1991.   Toward his later years , he was known for preparing high school seniors well for college entrance exam.

Boheng married Yong Qiang Zhang on December 5, 1962 and spent 61 years together.  They have one son Hao Zhu, who came to the United States in 1989 as a doctoral student.  Boheng and Yong Qiang decided in 1994 to spend their retirement years with Hao, daughter-in-law, WenFang Wang, and two grandchildren, Frances Zhu and Jonathan Zhu.   The family moved from Austin, TX, to Boston, MA, and finally to Overland Park, KS.  Boheng was an excellent and disciplined teacher and widely adored by his students. He also had an enormous impact on the academic success of his son and grandchildren. He was an avid photographer and a classic music lover. In his leisurely time, Boheng wrote over 56 assays for various newspapers about family, education, and Chinese literature, which in 2008 became a self-published book entitled “White Mountains, Red Leaves”.  It is treasured by his family, friends, and former students.

Boheng was preceeded in death by two brothers Zongquan and Du, and one sister, Mei.  He is survived by his wife, a son, a daughter in law, and two grandchildren.

朱伯衡与张永强 于1962年12月5日结婚，一起生活了61年。他们有一个儿子朱皓 于1989年作为博士生来到美国。 1994年，已经退休的伯衡和永强决定与儿子， 儿媳王文芳，以及两个孙辈 Frances Zhu和Jonathan Zhu 一起生活。他们全家从德克萨斯州奥斯汀搬到马萨诸塞州波士顿，最后又搬到堪萨斯州欧弗兰帕克。伯衡是一位优秀且严格的老师，深受学生的爱戴。他还对自己的儿子和孙辈的学业成功 做了巨大的影响。他是一位业余摄影师和古典音乐爱好者。闲暇之余，伯衡为多家报纸撰写了56多篇有关家庭、教育、中国文学的文章，并于2008年自费出版了《白山红叶》一书, 被他的家人、朋友和学生珍藏。

朱伯衡 继他的两个弟弟仲权、杜以及妹妹梅 之后去世。他身后留下了妻子、一个儿子、一个儿媳和两个孙子。
