Betty Jean McCormick, 95 of Mission, Kansas passed away July 10, 2023, at her home, surrounded by family. Funeral services will be on Saturday July 15 @ 11am at Countryside Christian Church, 6101 Nall, Mission, Kansas. Following the service, the burial will be at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church from 10 to 11am. Memorial contributions may be made to Countryside Christian Church, Children’s Mercy Hospital or Ascend Hospice.
Betty was born October 7, 1927, in Parsons, Kansas. She married the love of her life, Garland in 1947 and was with him until his passing in 1999. With him, Betty had 5 children, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Betty was a dedicated, loving stay at home mom until her children were all in school. She then was a bookkeeper with K Mart for over 20 years until her retirement in 1989. She and her family lived in Merriam Kansas for over 50 years. For the last 6 years, Betty lived at Bickford/Trustwell Mission Springs. Betty and her family are long time members of Countryside Christian Church.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Rick Tillery, daughter and son-in-law Nancy McCormick and Tony Jones, son and daughter-in-law Mike and Kathy McCormick, daughter and son-in-law Terry and Steve Blasdel, and daughter and son-in-law Sherry and Tony Carro.
Nine surviving grandchildren include Travis Tillery and wife Ann, Shawn Tillery and wife Michelle, Ryan Jones, Sandra Tschirhart and husband Chris, Tammy Martin and husband Jeff, Patrick McCormick and wife Sarah, Gloria Blasdel and partner Michael Saied, Emily Blasdel and wife Aubrey, and Julia Carro.
Ten surviving great grandchildren include Oliver Jones, Connor & Aidan & Liam Tschirhart, Cassidy & Tessa Martin, Jack & Max & Ash Blasdel, and Cayden Blasdel.
And one surviving sister-in-law Ruthie Harris.
Betty was the most loving and compassionate person with the sweetest smile and the brightest blue eyes. Everyone who met her loved her. She will be deeply missed by all.
