Betty Boone

Betty L. Boone of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away November 26, 2013. Services will be at Lakeview Village in the Heritage Activity Room, 9000 Park, Lenexa, 66215 on November 29, 2013 at 2:00 pm. Her continuous efforts since 1958 helped improve lives of developmentally disabled persons including promotion of early special education classes. She was one of the key players in initiating Special Olympics in Kansas and served there for 17 years. She also served on various boards and organizations: Assoc. for Retarded Citizens of Jo. Co., ARCare, Jo. Co. Developmental Supports, Lakemary Center Endowment, City of Mission Planning Commission, Lakeview Village Foundation. She was a longtime volunteer for Shawnee Mission Medical Center, member of Village Presbyterian Church and Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary. Her beloved husband, Dan, to whom she was married for nearly 62 years, preceded her in death. She leaves two sons: Dan Boone and wife, Erna, of Cabot, Arkansas and Jay Boone of Leawood, two granddaughters, Alyson Boone and Courtney Boone, and two great granddaughters.
