Andres (Andy) Velazquez, 83, of Overland Park, KS passed away March 15, 2007 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Visitation will be 4-6:00 p.m., Sunday, March 18th at D.W. Newcomer?s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 19th at St. Mark?s United Methodist Church, 6422 Santa Fe Dr., Overland Park, KS 66202. Burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. The family requests that memorials to the American Heart Association or St. Mark?s United Methodist Church be made in lieu of flowers.
Andy was born December 4, 1923 in Preston, Oriente, Cuba. He attended Park College in Parkville, MO followed by training at KU Med Center. He later worked for Hercules at the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant in Lawrence, KS and the Allegany Ballistics Lab in Maryland. He also worked for Fairbanks Morse KCKS and KU Med Center X-Ray Department. Andy is survived by his wife of 56 years, Yolanda and a brother in Cuba, along with his children Diana Dalen, Myrna Taylor and David Velazquez all of Kansas City. He was blessed with four Grandchildren and three Great-Grandchildren. Andy was a wonderful husband and father and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
