Alan Donaghue

Alan Dean Donaghue of Prairie Village, KS, was born March 13, 1938 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, the son of Leo Marion and Orpha Belle Hurn Donaghue. He died July 14, 2007 at home.

Mr. Donaghue attended elementary and junior high school in Kansas City, Kansas and graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1956. He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1960 where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and the Jayhawk Basketball Team, of which he remained a devoted fan.

Mr. Donaghue was employed by Phillips Petroleum Co. from 1962 to 1964, Johnson and Johnson Co. from 1964 to 1980 where he became Regional Sales Manager and Russell Stover Candies from 1980 to 1994 where he retired as Vice President of Sales.

Mr. Donaghue was a member of Village Presbyterian Church and had served as Elder, Clerk of the Session, Sunday school teacher and youth confirmation leader.

Mr. Donaghue is survived by his wife, Mary Susan Eggleston Donaghue. They were married August 25, 1962 in Macon, Missouri. He is also survived by their daughter and son-in-law, Amy Lucinda Donaghue Julo and Mark Allen Julo, of Atchison, Kansas, their son, Paul William Donaghue of Sandpoint, Idaho and two granddaughters, Briana and Abigail Julo. He is also survived by two devoted aunts, Sue Hurn and Laverne Acuff of Afton, Oklahoma. Mr. Donaghue was preceded in death by his parents of Kansas City, Kansas, paternal grandparents, James William Donaghue and Josephine Winifred Hayhurst Donaghue of Oswego, Kansas and maternal grandparents, Roy Sheldon Hurn and Sallie Elizabeth Conway Hurn of Pawhuska, Oklahoma. He was the son-in-law of the late Dr. and Mrs. Donald E. Eggleston of Macon, Missouri.

Memorial services will be held at Village Presbyterian Church, Thursday, July 19 at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Eggleston family lot, Oakwood Cemetery, Macon, Missouri.
