Margaret Allen

April 11, 1920 — October 16, 2017

Margaret Mae Allen, 97, Kansas City, KS, passed away on October 16, 2017.  Margaret was born in Gillham, Arkansas in to a family with 3 sisters and 1 brother.  As a young girl, Margaret became a Christian and was baptized into the Southern Baptist Church. Her devotion to Jesus Christ was evident in everything she did in her life.

At the age of 21, Margaret met M.E. Allen, the man to whom she would be married to for 69 years.  Margaret and M.E. moved to Kansas City in 1946.  They were blessed with two sons, David and Jerry.  With little to go on but hope and determination, she became part owner with M.E. of Allen’s Shoe Repair and spent over 40 years working in that business.  Margaret's work ethic, business skills, and wonderful personality were all a key factor in their success.

In spite of 60 hour work weeks, Margaret never failed in her devotion to her Lord.  She was a leader in so many areas of various churches, which she faithfully attended. Even with a full work and church life, Margaret always found time to be a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She leaves behind endless stories of her kindness and willingness to help as a neighbor and friend.

Margaret loved to travel with her husband and visited every continent, except Antarctica, and travelled to over 66 countries.

Margaret is survived by her brother, Marvin of Shawnee, Kansas; sons, David Allen of KC, MO and Jerry Allen (Jolene) of The Woodlands, TX; grandchildren, Todd Allen, Stefanie Fast, and Kimberly Naughton; as well as 6 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

We already miss you, Margaret.
