August 17, 1920 — January 23, 2016

Ardis M. Davis
Our beloved mother, Ardis Marcella (Lindokken) Davis, passed away peacefully January 23, 2016 in the presence of family.   Ardis was born August 17, 1920 to Martin and Annie (Kittleson) Lindokken in Blanchardville, Wisconsin.  She attended Blanchardville High School where she was a cheerleader, Prom Queen, and Valedictorian of her class.  She received a scholarship to the University of Wisconsin, Madison.   She met the love of her life, Donald R. Davis, M.D, when his family moved across the street from her in third grade.  They were married March 21, 1943 and left immediately for medical School at Temple University in Philadelphia.  They lived briefly in Bethesda, Maryland, where Don served in the U.S. Navy and then transferred to the Olathe (KS) Naval Station.  They moved to Rochester Minnesota for Don’s surgery fellowship at the Mayo Clinic and then set up permanent residence in Kansas City.
She was a home maker, and her roles as wife and mother were the most important in her life.  She was a Girl Scout leader, a den mother, active in the PTA, and volunteered at St Luke’s Hospital.  She was a member of St. Luke’s Medical Staff Wives, the Carriage Club, The Doctors Mayo Society, and Village Presbyterian Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Don Davis, her son, Donald R. Davis II, her two sisters, and step-grandchild Jaden Brady Kelly. She is survived by two daughters, Dee Dee Warner (Richard B. Warner) and Debby Brady (Lawrence D. Brady) and daughter-in-law, Becky (Paulsen) Davis.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren and their spouses: Brian (Tuesday Faust), Tim Barnhart, Bridget Barnhart, Betsy Barnhart (Ryan Clifford), David Warner, Michael Warner (Kelly Rogers), Molly Warner, Katie Warner (Nikolay Zolotukhin), Matt Davis (Julie), Jessie Davis, Christy Kelly (Kevin), Cathy Green (Troy), Tommy Elliott (Julia); 11 great grandchildren; and 6 nieces and nephews.
She was a beautiful woman with much style and grace. Ardis was very proud of her Norwegian heritage and traditions which she loved passing on to her family.  She touched many with her radiant smile, kindness and tenderness.  She loved life, focusing on its richness and blessings.  Ardis’ gifts were her gentle spirit, her genuine kindness, and her good wishes towards others.  She loved everybody and taught her children the joy of being happy and to embrace the importance of love and a strong family.
The family will gather for a private celebration of her life and she will be buried alongside her husband, Don, in the Walnut Mound Cemetery, Retreat, Vernon County, Wisconsin.
